LOL @ the long sleeve under a short sleeve shirt trend. Mine were actually sewn that way.
A few photos have a 90’s esque quality but overall it’s more 2000’s. The group shot with the pajama pants is very 2000’s.

Honestly, I couldn't really tell the difference between Y2K fashion and Early 2000s fashion, because looking at the January/February atmosphere pictures, they look similar to me... Aside from low rise and ultra of course...

Aside from low rise and ultra of course... a lot of late 2001 is based on atmosphere, post 9/11, Gamecube/Xbox arriving hype, Yugioh, lil more darker music and less on the fashion

Could you show me 2 fashion pictures side by side between January 2001 and November 2001? I feel kinda blind lol Well the reality is, people were probably still wearing the same clothes. But towards the end of the year, the trendy y2k things were fading, like chokers, tiny glasses, frosted/spiky hair. And the 00’s trends were coming in, like the lowrise jeans. Things got a little toned down before getting obnoxious in the 00’s way. You’re gonna have to hunt for really specific fashion changing in that small of an interval.

Like I described before the whole vibe of late 2001 was based more on the after effects of 9/11, new video game systems and teen pop officially changing to Neptunes style mature productions. 2001 was already changing into this vibe but 9/11 just sped it up even more in that last quarter. Things felt more "FRESH" in the last part of the year while the first part of the year felt redundant

I remember Vince McMan asking his ass to be kissed. Some time later, my friend said he would give one of his rare Yu-gi-oh cards away if anyone kissed his butt, and a desperate madman did it (not me).

All these atmosphere threads, while great, always seem to focus on kids, specifically high school kids. Why is there never a look at adults? Or primary school kids? I bet we’d learn a lot more from that than a myopic look at teenagers.

The reason why I put most teenaged kids in my atmosphere threads is because I feel as though teens are the ones who are the most involved in pop culture, whether it be fashion, music, etc. Vine defined the mid-2010’s but you never really saw a Gen Xer using it. It was mainly teens and young adults. They’re the main target audience for pop culture, so to me it makes sense to especially have photos of what they were wearing or did back then.

The clothes were an eyesore, but IRL I see people their 20s dressing really nice. I think teenagers usually can't afford the latest trends unless they have rich parents.

Tbf, the show is awful. The card game was super addictive though, I must have dumped $1000+ on cards.
