I hope this doesn't fall into decadeology but I want to give out my thoughts on this particular year. This school year was very weird to me. It doesn't have a strong early 2010s vibe, it was still primitive and smartphones weren't owned by the majority of the people. Blackberries and slider phones were all the rage this year, with some flip-phones lingering around. It also doesn't have a late 2000s vibe either because MySpace being overtaken by Facebook, snap rap and emo pop were no longer on top of the charts. Take a look at this video of a class of 2010 video. You'll see that the fashion is stuck between 2000s and 2010s:
The songs of this school year were interesting as well. Some sound they belong in the 2010s but some of the others sound like they belong in the 2000s.
Songs that felt more 2010s: Tik Tok, Party In The USA, Bad Romance, Telephone, Alejandro, Break Your Heart, OMG, Nothing On You, Airplanes, In My Head, Whatcha Say, I Gotta Feeling, Fireflies, Down, Memories, Sexy Chick, Baby, Hey Soul Sister, All The Right Moves.
Songs that felt more 2000s: Empire State of Mind, Use Somebody, Replay, Paparazzi, Breakeven, Whataya Want From Me, Rude Boy, Need You Now, 21 Guns, Love Drunk.

Sorry, but talking about the vibes of a certain school year does count as decadeology. It's okay to talk about the pop culture of a certain time, but when it comes to describing how the pop culture "felt" and talking about a year not having a "Late 2000s vibe", that's when it is really going into decadeology territory.
