Good news for elderly shoppers Woolworths, one of the Australia's two major grocers, introduced an exclusive shopping hour for the elderly and vulnerable. Link: Sky News videoIt was a good idea in principal, however it turned out to be a disaster as Woolworths did not re-stock their aisles overnight. Hundreds of elderly people queued in lines outside the stores for hours, only for them to then go into the stores and discover that there were hardly any supplies left. It was poorly handled.

Denmark apparently only allows to test people with severe symptoms of the disease which is a mind-blowingly bad decision. Not very different from the American response, unfortunately. I know from personal experience.

Spain and Italy are two countries already in full lockdown, and France is rumored to follow suit. The situation here in Europe is really disastrous. Stay safe, y'all. What's the situation like in Belgium at the moment? I really feel for all of you in Europe, I couldn't even begin to imagine how difficult life must be. Just declared the lockdown too... So yeah I can't leave my house other than food shopping for the next 3 weeks

Honestly, I was a bit hyped for high schools closing down because I was ready to start seeing more young women out but the whole thing is a massive curveball. I feel miserable. I thought this whole closing down everything would have been interesting.

* Level 4 travel restrictions are now enforce, meaning that Australians are now banned from travelling overseas. * Indoor and outdoor public gatherings of over 100 people are now prohibited. * Schools, universities and shopping centres will remain open. * There are now 454 confirmed cases of coronavirus in Australia.
I've got to be honest, i'm peeved off by the decision to keep schools open. I'm a school crossing supervisor and a Tafe student; why should someone in my situation be denied the opportunity to self isolate and protect themselves from potentially becoming infected?

Only a matter of time until your TAFE moves it's classes online. The majority of uni's here in Melbourne have already cancelled classes and moved online for the foreseeable future. IMO, the issue with schools closing is that parents will have to look after their children at home (and that most younger ones need supervision during the day), meaning the workforce will be significantly impacted. But if this virus situation gets worse (which it 100% will), they will have to close.

Yea, it doesn't make sense. I guess it confirms they will heavily wipe and spray around the schools in Aus at least. This crono shit will go down in history like previous breakouts.

From 11:59pm tonight, NZ borders will be entirely closed to non residents/citizens. The restrictions put in place 5 days ago forcing everyone arriving to go into self-isolation weren't enough as some tourists were refusing and were then deported.
To be honest, these new restrictions - along with the fact that pretty much all international airlines are stopping flights here (due to no passengers) are making things feel quite strange. We will literally be cut off from the rest of the world.

Australia has decided to do the same thing, however our new travel restrictions won't come into affect until 9pm tomorrow. It is a strange thought knowing that we're essentially choosing to be cut-off from the rest of the world, but on the other hand, if it results in a decrease in the rate of new cases, it can only be a good thing.
