Do you believe that juvenile criminals between 12 and 17 should be charged as adults or not? I say they should because by this stage they are old enough to know right from wrong.

12-14 no 15-16 depends 17 yes Idk. I feel like if you're old enough to legally drive then you're old enough to be tried as an adult. But that's just me though ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Yes, 12-17 year old kids know what they are doing. They should be charged as adults if they have committed a crime.

I'd say it depends on the crime. I feel comfortable for saying "never" for 12/13 year olds though. Truth is, young people are easier to rehabilitate, and they should be treated as such.

Fair point, Slowpoke. There is a theory that sending them to adult prison will lead them into worse ways. But if they commit serious crimes such as assault, rape or murder then they are already evil.

12/13/14 are still mostly irresponsible kiddos with little real experience of the world so I dunno why they would.
I guess 16 is a fair cut-off since by that age you have a bunch more responsibilities and supposed to be well-aware of law enforcements by then.

I personally went through a horrible incident at work last year where these two 13 year old kids verbally abused and then spat on me while I was just doing my job. They knew what they were doing. I'm sorry, but you can't tell me that people between the ages of 12-14 are innocent little kids who don't know the workings of the law and how they should present themselves. We shouldn't be wrapping them in cotton wool; if someone between the ages of 12-14 has committed an offence, by every right they should be punished by it.

This is exactly my point, Shark. The obnoxious little turds know perfectly well what they are doing and they also know that they are untouchable (at least in stupid countries such as Britain) so they do it more. They are aware of their rights but not their responsibilities. Yet people wonder why I don't like children!

They should get detention at school rather be criminally prosecuted tbh. That sounds excessive. You say they know what they're doing, yet I doubt they would give you a hard time if they were 23 or 33. It was a textbook example of childish behaviour.

I think there are A LOT of people who have kids who shouldn't be having any. I strongly doubt they would act differently if they were tried as adults in court, a lot of these kids don't understand consequences because they've never had to face any.

Spending 20-30 minutes in a classroom supervised by an uncaring teacher isn't going to change their attitudes. The message needs to be drilled into them that actions have consequences.

'I doubt they would give you a hard time if they were 23 or 33'.
Troublesome teenagers grow into troublesome adults.
