I been saying this for the last few months per meeting her at E! last year, randomly came across this video today which kind of backs up my claims lol Was going to post links and evidence but nope this video does it justice.
TL:DR she was signed to Interscope since 2013/2014 based on marketing
Another informative video that kind goes with this
I agree with everything about this video except Juice Wrld was not a plant. Lil Nas X more got popping from memes but... Other than that this is spot on.

I think the term "industry plant" is thrown around too loosely, it's no secret that record labels scout for artists who are easily marketable. It's just part of the package deal of being in the music industry. Many rock bands in the past got their start by a record label executive watching one of their live performances at a small bar/club. Sure, i'm not denying that record labels "push" certain artists over others, however I think it would be a stretch to say that Billie Eilish is a "manufactured" artist and a fraud. It's not like she has a team of producers who are composing her lyrics and telling her how she should look. She works with her brother.

Who cares? The entirety of modern pop culture is one big sham anyway.

I think if we were to compare kpop to Billie Eilish, the difference is that the former is more transparent in being "manufactured". A lot of Billie's fans think she's so real and raw or whatever, with a lot of that probably due to her sounding/looking different than what we've come to expect from pop stars. I'm honestly not sure if Billie or her camp have ever actually claimed any of this or just allowed it to cultivate, but not being all perfect and glossy is undeniably part of her image.

Good thing you're not a fan of the Beatles. I do like Lenon & Paul Might shock you to know their entire presentation from 1962 to 1966 was entirely label manufactured, then. Or according to the definition being used in this thread, they were frauds. You can thank Brian Epstein and Fifth Beatle George Martin for that.
