Not sure. Even if the pandemic ends, it is not like society will return back to normal right away as if nothing happened.

Not sure. Even if the pandemic ends, it is not like society will return back to normal right away as if nothing happened. There will be a new normal in the 2030s that will be very different from the one we remember from the 2010s. It's going to be a long, difficult road to get there though. I'm terrified of what this coming decade is going to bring, especially in the USA.

I took a Covid test today. It felt like they poked my brain.

At this point it sure will bleed well into 2021, and probably the entire first half of the 2020s in poorer countries.

If the vaccine arrives at early 2021, then hopefully it won't be a huge issue to many people in the second half of 2021.

I somehow feel like it's too good to be true, to be honest. They still can't even find a vaccine for AIDS yet.

They are using a similar genome to what they used for the SARS vaccine, since COVID-19 is also known as SARS-2, which is why it’s coming more quickly than most vaccines would.

Dr Fauci said it himself that the development of vaccines show a lot of promise. Plus, Covid-19 is less severe than SARS and MERS so it would be much easier to kill the former.

A vaccine is supposed to help your immune system to recognize a virus before it proliferates in your body. It wouldn't work (and probably would never work) with HIV because the virus attacks those same immune cells which are supposed to fight against it. The COVID-19 virus targets lung cells instead so a vaccine is perfectly possible in its case, just that it takes a very long process to develop a stable, risk-free and efficient vaccine.

Even if it isn’t “comparable in the slightest”, I have strong doubts that a vaccine will be available as early as next year. I just can’t see it happening, to be honest.
