I didn’t. I was Nintendo all the way in those days. While I admire the loyalty, you really missed out.

Late reply but I got mine Christmas of 2004. I was pretty young then but I remember the hype of opening it on christmas day. I initially didn't have any games to play though lol. My older cousins gave me Need For Speed Underground a few weeks after getting it though. I played a lot of WWE Smackdown! vs Raw back then too.

Family got one on October 26th 2000. Sadly, it fell victim to the disc read error and we had to get a new one in 2002 (which I still have with me working today).

I was only 1/2 years old at the time, but when we were in the Philippines, my sisters bought a PS2 around 2005/06, pretty late I know...

I got a slim one in April 2008 w/ Kingdom Hearts 2. Yes the 7th gen had already started but PS2 was still very well relevant in the late 2000's.

If a 7th gen game could go on the Wii, it could go on the PS2. It's not like people stopped playing the PS2 as soon as the PS3 and its competitors came out. Plus it wasn't all sports games after 2006. In 2007, Dragon Ball Z Budokai Tenkaichi 3, God of War II, Guitar Hero III, Crash of the Titans, Metal of Honor: Vanguard, Spryo: The Eternal Night, etc. came out. In 2008, Persona 4, Sonic Unleashed, Yakuza 2, Sonic Riders Zero Gravity, Silent Hill: Origins, Rachet & Clank: Size Matters, Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon, etc came out. None of those I listed are sports or Disney games. While I agree the PS2 took a back seat, it was still commercially and socially relevant at least during 2007-2008. Same thing happened with the PS3/Xbox 360, they were still relevant in 2014-15 during the 8th gen and from what I've been told, people were still playing N64/PS1 during 2002-03. Heck, even the SNES junior was released in 1997 after the N64 came out. This happens each generation.

Heck, even the SNES junior was released in 1997 after the N64 came out. This happens each generation. To be honest with you in my circle everyone threw their ps2 in the bushes once Xbox 360 came out including me. None of my friends were playing n64 or ps1 in 2002 or 2003. infact when I got my ps2 in Ocotober 2001 I sold my ps1 to get new games at EB games. I remember early early 2001 being the last glimmer of hope for n64 with conker and people still playing WWF No mercy. I want to say people were still playing No Mercy, Paper Mario and Smackdown 2 Know your rule well into Summer 2001, as well as Tony Hawk 2. As for Snes I stopped playing it once I got ps1 in 1997 , I had it sitting alongside my ps1 for like 2 months and was like F this and put my snes in the closet. I do remember the SNES jr and hated the design so much lol Nintendo 64 I got like a month after ps1 and that system had the shortest life on my shelf, I got sick of waiting for games for it and sold it when Dreamcast came out. When Sega announced in early 2001 they were becoming third party I was so disgusted and sold my dreamcast that week. I didn't even care if SA 2 was coming out I didn't care I was so disgusted by Sega and their mind games. As you can tell I am quick to throw a system to the lions if it's not meeting my needs lol

Sadly, we gave away our PS2 in 2009 to our relatives in Baguio City, and it got destroyed due to the flood. We had 3 Mid-range PC's anyway...
