Malls were lively and full of character in 2002. I can’t believe an early 2000s recession ever happened because the economy seemed pretty strong and kicking back then. Cost of living was cheaper. I think 2002 was before the 2000s energy crisis. I was 4.5 years old and in preschool during November 2002. My sister was 1/2 a year old. That one picture with the masks.  I think the SARS outbreak started in China in November 2002. Those water fountain things were a STAPLE in 2000s malls lol, fake plants as well ( kind of the Mean Girls mall look) The recession did indeed happen but it was so small I forgot about it until a few years ago. Sars was in the news but no one took it seriously in the United States.

Two words: LOSE YOURSELF. That song was overplayed WAY 2 much on the radio and MTV lol I would imagine. Eminem was basically on top of the world in the early 2000s until he dropped Encore and then his near-deadly stint with drug abuse not soon after.

That song was played so much I started to get annoyed with Eminem @ the time, like it was Mariah Carey we belong together in 05 cvs,walgreens,supermarket levels of annoying.

Not even making this up, like EVERY store was playing that song, and this and forget it when the music video came out in early 03, you could not escape it

Mainly because a rapper is name dropping nine inch nails and primus and wasn’t overly commercialized like like later. Also eminem played the warped tour, in early 1999, with punk bands, which was cool.
