For those of you who may remember or need a refresher,Facing intense competition from Sega, Nintendo decided to alter the trajectory of its marketing and pitch a new image to the public. The Play It Loud! campaign marked a departure from traditional marketing practice by Nintendo. Instead of focusing on one particular console or game, it promoted a particular corporate image that was aimed at teenagers and young adults. This is around the time Donkey Kong Country dropped and hoards of people moved to the SNES. Commercials aired on tv using grunge songs and Nintendo attempted to be PG 13 lol The campaign came to a screeching halt when n64 dropped and Nintendo went back to being a family company.
