It's hilarious how 2009 is both the most beloved and hated year of the 00s at the same time That is a definitely a polarizing year if I ever saw one. Anyway, 2003 and 2004 are my babies and I will defend those years until the grave. I think 2016 would win a "Worst year of the 2010s" poll easily, so that's funny to think about

2007. I know I've said this before, but it's the one year that i'm glad I experienced at the age that I did. I was introduced to my close friend (who i'm still friends with 13 years later) by a mutual friend of ours during a lunch break at school. He was in my Year 1 class, however I hadn't actually met him or spoken to him much before then. Ironically, we're both no longer friends with the kid who introduced us to each other, but I catch up with my close friend quite regularly. The last time I caught up with him was only a couple of weeks ago. It was also the year that I fell in love for the first time. There was a girl in my class who only lived in the house behind mine and I can't remember how exactly I did, but I ended up befriending her at some point towards the end of Year 2. It was great because we both had feelings for each other. Sometimes we would hop on our trampolines after school in the afternoon and speak to each other over the fence. I miss that. We also used to hang out together in class and kids would make fun of us for it, lol. It's the childhood year of mine that I have the most nostalgia and appreciation for, to the point where listening to certain songs from that year actually puts me on the verge of tears at times because of how much fondness I have for them (yeah, I know that's sappy). I went and saw the first Transformers movie and The Simpsons Movie at the cinemas when they were released. One of the best memories I have though is going with my Mum to see Linkin Park live at the Sydney Entertainment Centre. That was such a great experience because Linkin Park were my favourite band at the time, I was massively into them. They didn't disappoint either. It was such a great show and Chris Cornell (the late, great lead singer of Soundgarden) actually appeared at the show as a special guest. I'm really glad that I got to see both Chester and Chris seeing as how they are sadly no longer with us.The year was also when I got my golden labrador named Sally. She was only a six-week-old puppy when we got her and despite that scare just a couple of weeks ago, she's thankfully still with us and healthy. So to sum up, being an 8 year old kid in 2007 was pretty good.

To the people who voted for 2009 I have a question for you, how old were you during the early 2000s?

Probably 2000 (especially January - August/September). 2000 was just a really chill year, the pop culture was pretty good and was still very similar to the late 90s. In terms of just pop culture alone, that award would have to go to 2004, awesome video games, good movies, TV was pretty good, animation was doing very well (with good shows and very good movies), the only thing I didn't really like was the music.

How is the mid 2000s not winning this thing, very shocking TBH Considering switching my vote to make them win

2007. Many great memories with that year. The pop culture was great too, the music, movies, and video games were awesome. It was late 2000s but also classic 2000s at the same time.

Even though I don’t remember the year, I’d say 2004 was the best year of the 2000s. Great year for movies, music, video games, cartoons and sports.
