Does anyone else think that MGMT’s 2007 album Oracular Spectacular influential to the indie pop scene of the 2010s? I heard a lot of indie pop songs from the last decade sounds like the music and vocals of MGMT.

I guess they're influential in a way of incorporating synth-pop and atmospheric, electronic sounds in their music before it became widespread in the 2010s.

That is actually the year American Apparel and Urban Outfitters started a huge push to put stores in the United States ironically. You are correct bw. Lot of credit has to go to 2006's CSS music video that had tons of people copying their looks, it was used in tons of commercials in Summer 2006. It was low key but it had buzz online. On a sound front MGMT kind is like the baseline for indie pops sound. When that MGMT album came out people were calling revolutionary. As you can see from the video shot in 2006 it looks VERY hipster I compare the rise of indie pop and hipster in 2007 to that of Grunge slowly making waves underground.

She was dressing early 2010s in 2006/2007 before it was cool. I've also been noticing a lot of hipster in 2006/2007 that I didn't acknowledge at the time. I never heard of Oracular Spectacular so I can't comment on that.

Remember I got flack on that other forum " " for saying that it made waves, but yeah it was below the surface in 2006 but it was there. Some of my 2006 atmosphere threads set in the late portion of 06 show it.
