Before HD TV's became normal Fox and NBC would broadcast shows in HD in the early 2000s and mid 2000s. Since most of us didn't have HD until the last 2 years of the 2000s/early 2010s it seems jarring watching the content back on Netflix in its orginal HD nature.
That 70s show aired in HD
Malcolm in the Middle did as well

Its definitely strange to think that this is how the show looked on the professional broadcast monitors/other equipment. This video from 1993 is also pretty surreal.

Whenever I think of early 2000s HD television, I usually think of Fox, especially when they kept touting their "Widescreen" moniker for shows like 24.
But these Super Bowl ads from 2005 are so astonishing to look at with their HD formats. Most people at the time had standard definition and HDTVs weren't readily affordable to the public until the late 2000s and early 2010s.
I wonder how live American Idol shows would've looked like with HD back in the early-mid 2000s.
