Uhhhhhh, so "Your song" by Rita Ora just came on and it's really starting to annoy me now. Recently there have been so many annoying songs that are getting constantly replayed while actually some of the good releases barely get played angry . Im sorry, it's now October 2017 and I really don't wanna hear anymore songs by Ed Sheeran. No offence, he's not my favourite artist and some of his songs are alright but, he's had so many songs released this year that play on the radio often and I'm so over hearing his voice it's starting to become a joke. Also any new release by Charlie Puth is just trash . I also find the new song by Maroon 5 to be pretty annoying. And now I'm done with my ranting for today lol........... angry What about you guys?

Good thread idea! I'm not really familiar with "Your Song" by Rita Ora. I've probably heard it before, but I can't exactly think of it off the top of my head! In regards to Ed Sheeran, I completely agree with you! To be honest, I think the main reason as to why he is as popular and influential as he is, is due to the overall state of the music scene at the moment. Here are a couple of annoying/overplayed songs I can think of: * "So Sorry" - Demi Lovato The radio stations in my region have been flogging this song to death. It's pretty much played every hour or so. * "Single Ladies (Put a Ring on it)" - BeyonceThis song was absolutely played to death when it was released in 2008. Thankfully it's not played much anymore, but I still think that it's incredibly overrated.

Also, I just remembered "What About Us?" by Pink. It's driving me insane how often it's played. Like it wasn't even that overplayed when It was first released and now in like the past week or two, all the radio stations have decided it's like their new favourite song or something , dammit!! angry

I don't understand how Pink has continued to perform well on the charts. I thought her career would have died off by now! :S

This was an annoying, overplayed song back in 2015. It's extremely overrated.

For some reason, no other song was as overplayed on the radio throughout my life as this. It showed up constantly before it appeared on the American Now 13, and even several years later, it was still in constant rotation. It's not a bad song, but its impact has been severely mitigated by just how many times I've heard it on the go. Objectively, it's pretty uplifting, but I can only listen to that piano riff so many times without getting bored eventually.
I was in love with this track when it first came out. It was a breath of fresh air that reminded me heavily of late 60s soul music. Then it just kept appearing on the radio again, and again, and again, and again, until finally it's just way too familiar for me to be totally blown away by anymore. It's still good, but along with "Clocks," it's one of the only songs that lost much of its quality for me simply because of how overplayed it was.

This was an annoying, overplayed song back in 2015. It's extremely overrated. Yeah, I remember when that song was released in late 2014 I actually didn't mind it to begin with. However, it quickly became quite annoying with how many times it was played.

Pretty much everything from the last 25 years. I don't even listen anymore and have no idea what the current chart topper is or even who is in the chart.

It's not just modern pop songs.
Classic rock radio has a tendency to over play the cheesiest lamest classic rock hits ever.
Songs like this include;
"More than a Feeling" - Boston
"Carry on My Wayward Son" - Kansas
"Come Sail Away" - Styx
"Don't Stop Believing" - Journey
Even Queen, a band I love, gets over saturated on classic rock radio, particularly "We Will Rock You/We Are the Champions".

I agree, although i'm not sure if I would personally view "More than a Feeling" as being cheesy. A few more rock songs which I believe are quite overplayed are: * "Semi-Charmed Life" - Third Eye Blind * "Smells Like Teen Spirit" - Nirvana (it's a good song, but they had better releases IMO) * "Best of You" - Foo Fighters

I grew up with my dad playing a lot of hip hop and r&b songs on the radio and there's a lot of them I can think of that was overplayed so much and that's repetitive, but I'm going to post this one because I remember how overplayed this damn song was and how I always use to make fun of it.
Now that I'm hearing it again I kind of like it, but dang did I get tired of this.

I'm starting to get real sick of hearing "Time of Your Life" by Green Day on FM radio. Don't get me wrong, I think it's a great song, but it seems to be one of the "go to" rock songs for the Top-40 stations and even my local rock station plays it on a regular basis.

I usually have a pretty good tolerance for overplay as long as the song itself is pretty tolerable (which I did in order to survive 2017 and the Shape of You-Despacito onslaught), but I can think of a couple of songs that were definitely hurt due to overexposure.
It doesn't help this song is very corny and cliche, but the fact I've been hearing it all my life just makes me wish to never hear it again. I can't stand those first piano notes for instance, it just gives off the signal that I will hear that goddamn sneary song for the millionth time.
I remember vehemently hating this song when it was at its peak. But I'm pretty sure it was because of the combination of not liking it very much from the get-go coupled with the fact I was hearing it every other day back in 2009.
A much more recent example. I usually don't mind when a song is just inoffensively bland, but hearing it again and again makes that utter blandness quite infuriating.
