There will be instances where people will need to come in close contact with each other of course, but considering the fact that we're facing a prospect where we may have to live with the coronavirus for many years to come, would it be of greater benefit to society if we continued with these practices going forward and maintain a 1.5m (6 feet) distance when possible? Keeping up with good hygiene practices, such as washing your hands after going out or using your elbows to open doors, has many potential benefits. It could potentially stop the spread of existing infections such as influenza and it would also relieve the pressure placed on our hospitals. We may need to sacrifice handshakes, hugs (at least with strangers) and certain activities of mass gatherings, but would it really be a bad thing?
What are your thoughts on this?

Yeah no. Not only is that unrealistic but it’s just not going to happen. A vaccine will probably take 12-18 months to come out anyway.

Social distancing? As a misanthrope and loner, I'm all for it!

No, not forever. Only for like another year or two until the coronavirus is no longer a major threat to humanity.

I think what the government should focus on is giving everyone free face masks so that way social distancing wont be necessary as much, but of course, until the vaccine is developed, everyone will be required to wear the face mask at all times when outdoors so that way we dont be required to stay in lockdown forever. Honestly, if the lockdown was not there, I would have gotten more accomplished right now. With the lockdown gone, it will help speed up the development of the vaccine as well.
