So another one of these... yay. Or not. 2014 might just be the worst year for music, period. I cannot think of a worse year for music than this. It literally makes 2017 look like the heavenly light of all music just by how bad 2014 is for music. Easily the worst year for music of the 2010s, no other year compares. Here is my ranking of all the hit songs of 2014... yippee.
And yes, I did get it from the "hit songs of 2014" video, though I did listen to the songs more after I watched the video.
7/11 - Beyonce: 2/10. WTF even is this?
A Sky Full of Stars - Coldplay: 6/10. Pleasant but unremarkable.
Addicted to You - Avicii & Audra Mae: 4/10. Just strange.
All About That Bass - Meghan Trainor: 2/10. Singing is terrible and the beat is repetitive.
Anaconda - Nicki Minaj: 1/10. I don't care about your "buns", hon.
Animals - Maroon 5: 5/10. Meh, very unmemorable.
Bad - David Guetta: -1/10. Quite possibly the worst song of the whole decade - it's so bad it actually goes into NEGATIVE NUMBERS!
Bailando - Enrique Iglesias: 4/10. I'm getting tired of these type of songs.
Bang Bang - Jessie J, Ariana Grande & Nicki Minaj: 4/10. Wouldn't be as bad if it wasn't overplayed
Birthday - Katy Perry. 3/10. Obnoxious.
Black Widow - Iggy Azalea & Rita Ora: 5/10. Very forgettable.
Blame - Calvin Harris: 6/10. Repetitive beat but otherwise tolerable.
Blank Space - Taylor Swift: 2/10. Another generic as fuck Taylor Swift song, not to mention she fucking smashed a Shelby Cobra! Why?!
Boss - Fifth Harmony: 3/10. If only this song was the boss.
Break Free - Ariana Grande & Zedd: 3/10. Obnoxious singing ruins what could've been a good song.
Budapest - George Ezra: 5/10. Forgettable...
Can't Remember To Forget You - Shakira & Rihanna: 5/10. Poor but tolerable vocals and a good beat.
Centuries - Fall Out Boy: 7/10. One of their weaker songs personally.
Chandelier - Sia: 2/10. It's so annoying!
Cheerleader - Omi & Felix Jaehn: 2/10. Terrible and grating vocals and a forgettable beat.
Come Get It Bae - Pharrell Williams & Miley Cyrus: 5/10. Strange beat and strange vocals.
Cool Kids - Echosmith: 6/10. Decent beat but lackluster vocals.
Dangerous - David Guetta & Sam Martin: 4/10. Just strange and boring.
Dark Horse - Katy Perry & Juicy J: 3/10. It's lame and the fact that I heard that 712,519 times back in 2014 doesn't really help.
Don't - Ed Sheeran: 7/10. Not bad.
Drunk In Love - Beyonce & Jay-Z: 3/10. Incoherent, like a toddler mashed two different songs into one.
Fancy - Iggy Azalea & Charli XCX: 2/10. Horrible, horrible, horrible.
Feelin' Myself - will.i.am & Miley Cyrus: 2/10. A desperate attempt to seem "cool" but fails so hard.

G.D.F.R. - Flo Rida: 2/10. Has a HORRIBLE beat and the vocals sound so bored.
G.U.Y. - Lady Gaga: 2/10. C.R.I.N.G.E.
Geronimo - Sheppard: 7/10. Catchy.
Guts Over Fear - Eminem & Sia: 4/10. Not nearly as good as his other songs, and Sia is just lame. Not a fan of her, at all...
Habibi (I Need Your Love) - Shaggy: 3/10. Terrible.
Habits (Stay High) - Tove Lo & Hippie Sabotage: 4/10. A mediocre song made worse by a remix.
Happy - Pharell Williams: 6/10. I was exhausted by the song at the time but it's harmless and okay.

Hideaway - Kiesza: 3/10. So generic.
Hold Back The River - James Bay: 2/10. Horrendous singing.
Human - Christina Perri: 1/10. Horrible autotuned singing and an awful beat.
I Got U - Duke Dumont & Jax Jones: 3/10. Generic EDM song. Next.

I'm Not The Only One - Sam Smith: 3/10. Bland, annoying and forgettable.
l.a.love (la la) - Fergie & YG: 3/10. Lame.
la la la - Shakira: 2/10. Bleh.
Let It Go - Idina Menzel: 6/10. Not one of my favorites, but I used to hate this song and the movie and it was so stupid. The movie was decent and the song was okay...
Lips Are Movin - Meghan Trainor: 3/10. Beat sounds like wet farts and the song itself is so generic. Yet it got played so much that I didn't even want to listen to the radio anymore.

Only - Nicki Minaj, Drake, Lil Wayne, & Chris Brown: 1/10. Nicki, can you stop trying?
Outside - Calvin Harris & Ellie Goulding: 4/10. Generic EDM song, but slightly better?
Partition - Beyonce: -1/10. Not even a song, it's just someone talking with a beat over it.
Pills N Potions - Nicki Minaj: 2/10. Annoying as fuck but that's Nicki Minaj for ya.
Prayer In C - Lily Wood and The Prick & Robin Schulz: 2/10. This is even worse than the other generic EDM songs because Lily Wood can't sing here. At all.
Pretty Hurts - Beyonce: 3/10. Beyonce was outdated and tired by this point.
Problem - Ariana Grande & Iggy Azalea: 2/10. Two people that can't sing + Someone Whispering Constantly = Shit.

#selfie - The Chainsmokers & Alexis Killacam: 7/10. Terrible song, but at least they did it on purpose - and the satire has aged well, honestly.
Shake It Off - Taylor Swift: -1/10. Taylor's cringey, obnoxious singing, the farts in the background, you name it!
She Looks So Perfect - 5 Seconds of Summer: 5/10. It seems as if the boy band resurgence died as soon as it started, around like 2011 or 2012. The Wanted, One Direction, 5 Seconds of Summer - i'm surprised that this song even exists.
Shower - Becky G: 4/10. Kind of obnoxious.
Sing - Ed Sheeran: 4/10. Not one of his best songs - kinda annoying honestly.
Stay With Me - Sam Smith: 5/10. It has a good message, i'm sure of it - but the song itself isn't great.

The Man - Aloe Blacc: 6/10. Repetitive vocals, but decent instrumentals
Thinking Out Loud - Ed Sheeran: 6/10. Not bad, per se, but it feels like it's better than it actually is.

XO - Beyonce: 2/10. Incoherent trash, perfect way to end this off!
Score: 313 (I don't even know how it's that high)
Best Song: Love Never Felt So Good: I really like this song. It should be annoying to me, but... it's actually a ton of fun to listen to! Definitely the best song of the year, but that's not really saying much unfortunately.
Worst Song: Bad: God, was it tough. Between This, Shake It Off and Partition, it was damn TOUGH. But between these three, I guess I will choose Bad for the time being. This song is so bad that I now have a conspiracy theory that it's existence may have actually caused the coronavirus to even exist. God himself saw what we made and he was so disgusted by it that he decided to unleash the virus on us all, half a decade later, to punish us all. This song has it all: horrible, WHINY background vocals and a despicably abhorrent instrumental that God would come back from the dead to stop. My ears were ringing by the time it was over - it was that bad.
And yes, I did get it from the "hit songs of 2014" video, though I did listen to the songs more after I watched the video.
