At least 1998 isn't too far off the original Japanese release (1996). Europe saw Pokémon released even later in 1999, when Pokémon Gold and Silver were set to release in Japan. In only 4 years time, Europe saw the rushed releases of Pokémon Red and Blue to Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire, which is crazy to think about ! I got my first taste of pokemon in 1997 when it was all over the news for the seizure episode, I thought it was strange as hell looking @ pikachu. I think we needed Tamagotchi and Digimon coming out in 97 to bridge us to the collect a monster trend. It was kind of warming us up. Yeah, I should have paid attention back then, I never really noticed the seizure thing. But that makes sense that these gadgets acted as a gateway that would have been overkill for all to be big fads at the same time... for some odd reason it still feel like it would have been cool for Pokémon to have at least a little bit earlier, considering how late some of games were released in the US, including the movies, and popularity Oh well.. I guess, can’t change history lol...

]If only pokemon came to the north america in 1996 or 1997 it would have better so we could get stuff like this instead of people collecting $500 beanie babies and endless pogs: I used to have one of these GB printers (not the Pokémon themed one but the original version). The quality was sooo bad looking back on it, lol. What is that thing? Is that an actual printer?

Yep sort of. It was a thermal printer and used in conjunction with the GB Camera back in the day. You could capture really low res photos and then print them. Here's a video about it if you’re interested enough:

No just no. Why get these when you can go to the thift store or garage seale and score box 12 games for half the money. Its really scary how everything is getting remade. It also artificially drives up the price of used older games in games stores.

Many people just don't like the idea of owning old and "outdated" technology and would rather own a cheaper imitation that doesn't take up as much space and is cost effective. Just look at the NES mini. Sometimes remakes and re releases can actually lower the prices of older games since the spotlight is now on the newer versions. For example FF7 was like 100-200 dollars on ebay years ago, but after the game was released on Steam and PS4 the prices have fallen considerably.

Digital releases are different.
