In these dark days I've found some solace in reexploring my childhood decade, and in that endeavor I discovered how much I really like 2004 in particular. The year was simply filled to the brim with delicious pop evocations full of life and diversity. Here are some of my favorites:
To celebrate a year that doesn't seem to get enough appreciation I'm creating this thread so you could also post your favorite '04 bops as well!

This is one of the greatest rock songs of the 21st Century. I love it, it packs so much energy into it's relatively short duration and it really lifts my mood whenever I listen to it. Even if you don't have a favourable opinion of My Chemical Romance or the emo scene of the Mid-Late 2000s, "Helena" deserves to be acknowledged as being a class above a lot of the mainstream rock songs that were popular at the time. It's such a great song. Disappointingly, having only reaching #78 on the charts here, it was never actually a hit in Australia, so I have no memories of the song as it was new. "Helena" really should have been one of the best-selling singles of 2004, but it wasn't to be. Also, just as a side note, i'd highly suggest everyone giving Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge a listen when you all get the chance as well. It's one of the best rock albums of the 2000s.

I know it's a cheesy pop song from a Disney Channel star, but I can't help it, I love this song

This song must've kicked off my preteen punk rebel phase. Those were dark times but it was AMAZING music

I've liked this song since I was 8 and it would still have to be one of my favourite songs from 2004. Criminally underrated.

Very solid year for music, would certainly be in my top half of the 2000s.

I like 'Somewhere Only We Know' and 'Take Me Out' but I can't remember any other songs of 2004. Had lost interest well before then.

Kudos to Captain Nemo for introducing me to this. I wish I had discovered it sooner!

2004 would have to be my favourite year for music out of the 2000s, and because I was 5 at the time, so many of the songs from that year definitely have a huge sentimental feeling for me. These are some of my favourites: {Spoiler}
