In light of coronavirus, this seems to be where it's headed. Brick-and-mortar that don't sell essential items that have to be bought in person won't survive COVID-19. People aren't going back to the mall en masse until the virus is no longer a threat and I don't believe most mall retailers will be able to hold out the 2-3 years it's going to take us to get there. We're finally going where Internet junkies have been trying to push us since the '90s; a world where all or most shopping is done online.
But is this really a step forward? Will you miss brick-and-mortar retail? I know I will.
