This was just something I was randomly thinking about earlier today. Obviously you can't keep tabs on whether all the people you have met through life have had siblings or not, but it really dawned on me earlier that only children are actually quite rare in society. There's very few of us. We're also hardly represented in the media, the majority of characters on TV shows and movies have siblings. Think about it. I'm an only child myself, but out of all the people I've met through school or out in public during the 21 years that I've been alive, I only know of three other people without siblings. One of them is actually a close friend of mine and he was in the same grade as me at high school. We would joke that we were probably one of the very few people at our school who had no siblings. My experiences with meeting other people with no siblings have been interesting, to say the least. It's kind of hard to explain, but as an only child myself, I can actually sort of sense whether someone might be one as well. There's something a bit different about our behaviours and interactions with others, however I can't really put my finger on what exactly that is. I guess it's just an intuitive feeling that I get. Have you ever met an only child in real life? Trust me, we are out there, even if we may be hard to find.

Several. In my street, the first 4 houses had 'only' children. My cousins David and Barry were only children.

A girl I used to hangout with back in 2018 is an only child. She has cousins around her age that she hangs around with.

I had a friend who left my school in 2018 who is an only child, we got on really well. There was another boy as well in my year level who is an only child, he is also not at the school anymore.
I believe that I am one of the only students currently in my year level at my school who is an only child. I can't think of anyone else. There was someone else, but they now have a sibling.

That's interesting, I wasn't aware that you were an only child as well.
