Anyone else remember this ? It was Tamagotchi, and then later in 97 Digimon came out (before the anime hit in 99) It seemed everyone needed to have a digital pet attached to their pants

I didn't know Digimon was popular before the anime I got my Digivice sometime in the early 2000s. Damn, I miss that thing. I think I had a Windows 98 PC and it needed Windows XP so it didn't even work properly but it was still fun.

I did have that digivice around 2001 u had to shake it But as far as 1997 Digimon goes, it was sold under the Tamagotchi banner for the remainder of the 97-98 school year The original Digital Monster model that was released in 1997 sold 14 million units worldwide, including 13 million in Japan and 1 million overseas

Yep. I wasn’t so much into Digimon but everyone else had one and didn’t want to be left out, as you do! Of course, they were deemed a massive distraction at school (teachers really didn’t like them to put it mildly), but despite this, most of my friends and classmates still secretly took ours to school to play at recess and lunch and just hoped we never got caught! Tamagotchi, I owned a baby one, an alien and then a dog. I also had a “Giga Pet Digital Doggie” towards the end of the craze which weren’t nearly as good but it was super cute either way.

I threw mine against the wall and it broke
