Right, it just seems really early considering hipsters as we know them wouldn't pop up until a couple years later at the earliest. I remember early hipsters and metrosexual hipsters from 2004 and 2005 being a bit of a mainstream thing, but it wasn't until 2006 that the many variations of it became a bit more common and even hipster beards and lumberjack hipster looks were already set through 2005-2006, and even more so, around late 2006. In the late 2000s to mid 2010s it just become more refined, modified and ultra mainstream. First time I saw the hipster look in the mainstream was this video on FUSE tv in the morning in Summer 2006. American Apparel was SUPER niche at the time, but advertisements were popping up slowly online and on billboards. I call this HIPSTER Beta testing phase 1

I was in a big city at that time. Just an observation of my surroundings. Here's a few examples to have a better sense of it Mars Volta: This is what the average hipster looked like in 2004/2005 (picture is from 2004) even in mid to late 2000s: 2004 tour 2005/2006 (band or group of hipsters) 2006 Jan 2006: Artist's description: HAND SILKSCREENED ITEMS: I designed and printed the bandanna, which says "I DENY BEING A HIPSTER WHO DENIES BEING A HIPSTER" when unfolded; Claude made the "Loud Cloud" shirt with Zardoz on it. commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Woman_with_vintage_bike.jpgSome of the looks were paired with indie, scenester, fashionista, fashioncore, or just facial hair looks Also rockers, metalheads and others were going for more facial hair and beards, whereas in the earlier 2000s it was more often a bigger soul patch or a goatee. Something like this ( don't when the pic is from) Links related to beards from that time: thegrowingbeard.blogspot.com/2006/05/www.nytimes.com/2006/07/16/nyregion/thecity/16bear.htmlwww.nytimes.com/2005/04/24/nyregion/thecity/for-every-hipster-15-minutes-of-fame.htmlslate.com/culture/2005/08/heavy-metal-for-hipsters.htmlI've posted this chart before, some of the early ones are a bit off buts its okay for the most most.

This appears to be referencing an entirely different iteration of hipsters than what we saw in the 2010s, although it does at least explain that guy’s shirt.

The girl on the bike looks like 2010s style, many of the mid 2000s looks seem connected to the 2010s style in a lot of ways. I don’t see it that way, I see it just as an evolved form or very identical, With some forms or styles slowly fading out in 09-12 while others like the bearded lumberjack style and a few others were already becoming more of the centerpoint of the style as it grew in popularity later taken to extremes and new elements were added and modified.

Which guys shirt? The girl on the bike looks like 2010s style Literally never saw anyone wearing something like that. It's more of a nondescript/dorky, neon vintage girl that's more a product of the 2000s than anything from the 2010s.. ^Now this is more the hipster/earthy/coffee shop/Coachella look associated with the mid-2010s.

Guys slashpop is right Hipster was fused with Scene elements around 2007 when it first start making very very very very small waves in New Jersey. I saw it with my own eyes and you had to be in a major state, California, New Jersey, New York etc etc or you are just going to say " I never saw anyone dress like that" I can confirm what Slash said

Yes true. I was in Toronto and I’ve just showed you what they looked like back then, with the ultimate hipster band, the Mars Volta, the pictures literally dated from then, represent exactly how the average hipster looked like, and given quite a bit of support in general... I wasn’t even going to search. Again all of this is online, beyond this, if you search enough videos etc as well. I was into alternative and metal music back in 2004/2005 and remember seeing a lot of hipsters who looked like this and had the whole typical hipster package in various places music places, college etc in real life. Hipsters date even further back, actually, the modern mid 2000s hipster style dates starts popping up 2004/2005, and gets bigger and much more commonplace throughout big cities in late 2005 and 2006. This depends who you were with, your circle of friends and age etc

I feel like once Hipster got into it's Groove like 2008- 2011 that when it solidified itself as a thing you can't ignore and started to trickle in areas like mid western states.

The early 2010s had the girl of the bike look, pictured in 2006, and colored glasses thing which was trendy circa 2010- 2012/early 2013 portion of the 2010s from what I'm remembering.

Yeah....that's what I was saying late 2004 and 2005 hipster was there that stood out but not as much as 2006. Film, art, fashion, music, and related circles where you find a people with that look and attitude more so, but there a number of people made it a visible thing as well. I recall in the mid 2000s hipster varieties and stereotypical looks were established and recognizable throughout 2006, starting in late 05, and more and more people were starting talk about them. A lot of people didn't know what to call them and thought they were like fashionistas, or metrosexuals with glasses and beards, a lot of them did cross over with scene, hippy, indie, geek-chic styles as well.. The bearded look and then lumberjack look was already a thing and started to get popular at this time, I think mustache thing and started around late 06 or 2007.. all of that just increased by year. In 2007, 2008 etc and then slowly it became more and more narrowed down on focused on the bearded, lumber varieties and just more upgraded, modified and mainstream by 2009 and then again even more modified and more mainstream by 2013/14. The 2000s overlaps and connections were there. Amy winehouse and russell brand from 2005-2006 around that time represent that look.

Eh, I just figured they were going for "drug addicted rock star." No its not exclusive to two people trying to look like that.I think both had addiction problems already but that doesn't have any bearing on common hipster related fashion/hairstyles from that time. This is more of the stereotypical hipster look from back then and it was also common back in 2007-2012 as well. I def get that it wasn't visible or understandable everywhere at the same time. It's common sense that not everything hits everywhere at the same time. .
