I was sick in early January and I've had a feeling ever since then that was it. It may have just been a bad cold, but it felt different.

The headline doesn't match the article content at all. The study press release states "The study also suggests that the virus was likely circulating as early as late-January 2020 in the New York City area" . Link: Mount Sinai StudyThe Science Alert article says "But new evidence suggests the virus was already spreading outside of Asia, not only in European countries including France and Italy, but also perhaps traveling as far as New York and Florida" . It's a bit light on factual evidence and heavy on hearsay/opinion.

I was sick in early January and I've had a feeling ever since then that was it. It may have just been a bad cold, but it felt different. It was most likely a flu episode since every year there's a different strain of the virus spreading. I doubt it was something that was only contained to a few hundred cases in Wuhan by then.
