"Hampster Dance", one of the oldest memes on the internet, created in August 1998 with a GIF and chipmunked samples of vocals from Disney's Robin Hood (1973), which went viral in 1999, and was a sensation throughout much of the '00s.

Seeing how far memes have become since then, and seeing how influential memes have become in our everyday lives, and how they're even shaping politics now, it's nice to look back on when memes played a much more reserved, more innocent role in society, and the Hampster Dance is by far the most memorable meme from that time.
