"Hampster Dance", one of the oldest memes on the internet, created in August 1998 with a GIF and chipmunked samples of vocals from Disney's Robin Hood (1973), which went viral in 1999, and was a sensation throughout much of the '00s. Seeing how far memes have become since then, and seeing how influential memes have become in our everyday lives, and how they're even shaping politics now, it's nice to look back on when memes played a much more reserved, more innocent role in society, and the Hampster Dance is by far the most memorable meme from that time.
Of course, this meme would also be made into a song in the year 2000;

When did those geocites pages that use to say “______Ate my balls!” Start?
Not many people know the guy who sang “King Of The Road” “Dang Me” and “You Can’t Rollerskate in A Buffalo Heard” was the Same guy who sung the Hamster Dance.
