You occasionally see parents have their young children on "leashes", to stop them from wondering off and possibly getting into trouble. What are your thoughts on them? To be honest, i'm completely against them. I'm sorry, but if you can't control your child (regardless of how they behave), then you shouldn't be a parent. I personally think that "child leashes" are humiliating and degrading for the child.

If the child is really bad at running away and keeping under control, then yeah certain measures need to be taken. Lots of children run away especially in places like malls or parks, where they can easily get lost or kidnapped so if you do have a child like that, then I thinks it's fine. Otherwise there's no point really.

I think it's really silly and embarrassing for the child. I don't think it would help control their behavior at all especially if you don't teach them how to control themselves without it and you just rely on the leash to do its work. They're human beings, not dogs.

If anything, it only makes the child start to form a resentment towards the parents, especially if the parents are relying on the leash too much (like you mentioned) and are severely restricting the child's behaviour.
