What are some years you HATED with a PASSION but by the time the year ended it ended up redeeming itself towards the end someway somehow ! I will give you a few of mine.

None of the years I hated redeemed themselves.

2014 jumps immediately to mind in my case. The year was an absolute miserable experience for me due to a lot of accumulating personal issues, even if by the end of the year things started to look dramatically up for me. It still left me a bitter taste for many years, and combined with the fact I hated most of what came out and world events in general back then, I called it the absolute worst year for many things.
It's only recently I gave the year a bit more of a chance while reexploring some of its pop culture. And while I still think it was definitely a fairly weak year all around, it was nowhere near as bad as I thought. Bit of a shame that now that I want to give the year more of a positive outlook, I see it rarely being mentioned and even seems to be a forgotten year.

I would say that I am a bit softer on 2016, likely due to the coronavirus pandemic ruining everything. As bad as 2016 was at the time, at least people still seemed to have fun that year going out and everything, and not everything was bad that year. I did SOME fun things that year. I would never, ever want to go back to that year unless 2020 somehow gets even worse than that, but if 2020 was like 2016, it would at least be decent.

I'm softer on 2013 and 2014 for this same reason. The entire 2010s for that matter.

I've grown to like 2017. I didn't like 2017 when I was living through it but now I seem to appreciate it.

There hasn't ever been a year which I have hated with a passion. Sure there's been years which haven't been good for me personally, but hating a year with a passion is essentially implying that all 365 days of the year were miserable. That has never been the case. Looking back though, I generally appreciate the Mid 2000s more than I did in the past. I still don't think they were particularly great years for pop culture or to have been a kid in for that matter, but i'm glad that I got to grow up in a time when smartphones and social media weren't ubiquitous.

The closest equivalent for me would have to be 2015. The first three quarters of that year were an absolute lowpoint in my life, but I at least started to find some happiness again during the last quarter, even if there was still a long way to go. It also helped that Back to the Future Day occurred on October 21. Regardless, I still look back negatively on 2015 as a whole.
2017 was also a year that was much better for me towards the end than it was at the beginning, but the first half of it was bad. It's just that the last few months of that year were among the happiest in my life.
Here's hoping that 2020 fits this thread in general.
