Huge news coming out of the US overnight. Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo, has declared that "Hong Kong is no longer autonomous from China, given facts on the ground" and that the United States stands with the people of Hong Kong. This comes after China proposed new national security measures which would take away the freedoms of Hong Kong people, such as making it a criminal offence to mock the Chinese national anthem. Hundreds of pro-democracy protesters were arrested by police yesterday.
I get the feeling that the world is going to go to war with China within the next few years. It isn't just US-China relations which are souring, the entire world seems to uniting in their stance against the CCP. Australia has been at the forefront of proposing an inquiry into the origins of COVID-19 and China is threatening to impose more tariffs if Australia does not back down from its stance. More than 120 countries supported Australia's inquiry. Things are going to get ugly.
