With all that's gone in the world since the beginning of the year, it's hard to believe that we still have yet another six months of 2020 left to go. The world is in complete turmoil at the moment and there is seemingly no end in sight.
Here's a recap of what has defined 2020 so far:
* The 2019-20 Australian bushfire season was the worst on record, killing 34 people and resulting in the death of over a billion animals. * Just days into the new year, a US drone strike kills Iranian general Qasem Soleimani, sparking fears of an onset of a World War III. * The impeachment trial of US President Donald Trump begins in the senate. He is latter acquitted on the 5th February. * The United Kingdom formally withdrew from the European Union at 11pm on the 31st January. * February 27 was the day of the "2020 stock market crash", when the Dow Jones plunged by 4.4%. It was the worst week for the index since 2008.
* WHO declares COVID-19 a pandemic. It quickly spread to countries around the world, resulting in travel bans, social distancing laws and self-quarantining. * As of the 1st June, there have been 6.1 confirmed cases of COVID-19 worldwide and 371,000 deaths. * On the 16th March, the Dow Jones falls by 2,997.10, the single largest point drop in history and the second-largest percentage drop ever. * The International Olympic Committee suspend the 2020 Olympic Games until 2021. This follows after sporting leagues around the world suspend their seasons. * A killing spree occurs in Nova Scotia, Canada, resulting in the deaths of 23 people. The attacks are the deadliest rampage in Canadian history. * Protests caused by the killing of George Ffloyd spread to hundreds of cities across the United States. They are currently ongoing.
Things will eventually get better and return to some sort of normality. We just might have to wait a little while longer for it to come.

I hope Trump loses and American society makes it to January 2021. I’d say right now that’s a big “if.”
But yeah the year isn’t even half over yet. I have a bad feeling things are going to get worse before they get better. I am worried about Trump getting us into a war with China before the year is out.
2020 has been by far the worst year of my life. I’ve never been this lonely. I wish I could just skip over the next three years at least. One good thing is I’m finally getting therapy.

Really crossing fingers and hoping 2021 will be a better year. This year has been too much for personal life and especially current events.

This entire year has been one long endurance. It's like absolutely nothing this generation has ever had to put up with. I've had to constantly restrain myself just from looking at the "What's Happening" sidebar on Twitter every time I visit the site just because there might be some new horrifying hashtag that throws my mind out of balance. Even with people being consistently forced into their homes due to COVID, the world outside is only more turbulent rather than less so. I can barely even find any healthy ways to escape from the horror outside unless I obsessively play several hours of Pokémon because face masks and discourse over Trump have bled into even the most mundane things. I've made clear my stance supporting black voices on both my personal FB as well as my Carlsbeat page, but I still feel like hardly anything I do would make a difference anyway. The very word 2020 now makes me cringe in disgust.
To say unseating Trump in November is mandatory would be an understatement. This entire disgusting year is the pinnacle of everything he started since he began his presidential campaign.

I'm so done with this year. Professionally, things aren't going great for me either, and I'm looking for a career reboot. Unfortunately, this is the worst possible time to do it.

I'm really tired of how disastrous this year is turning out. But at least I'm kinda glad that the recent activism and social turmoil is happening since I feel like we're going at least somewhere and not let this year not going fully to waste because of the pandemic.
But yeah, it's truly unpleasant life to live in this year. I'd rather relive 2014 (the worst year of my life) on a loop than live through 2020 once and see the world crashing and burning like this.

Same. I'd relive 2013 many times over just to get out of 2020. This year is basically like having to experience all of the worst times of my life all it once with no hope or nothing positive anywhere to cling to.

None of this had to happen. I'm actually concerned that this country isn't going to survive Trump. To his base, they don't care if our entire society burns to the ground if they can't have their authoritarian regime ruled by straight white gun-toting Jesus. If there's one positive that's happened this year it's that I've finally started therapy.

I honestly can't see 2021 being much better. For many countries and their this will take years to recover from. Fuck 2020 and fuck Donald J Trump.
Also I don't think that WW3 was even CLOSE to happening in January, to me it was just fear mongering. COVID on the other hand...

The economic repercussions of COVID is what is going to cause things to take so long. Many are saying 1-2 years of social distancing and then 10-15 years for the economy. Hopefully 2021 at least brings light at the end of the tunnel when it comes to social distancing and COVID fear. That will at least make it better than 2020. And if Biden wins the election and is inaugurated (and it happens peacefully), that will be a huge sigh of relief for this country.

If he doesn't though (probably not gonna happen, but still), we're all screwed. What would America even be by 2024? I don't think it will be the end of America in case he gets re-elected. But it will definitely be four more years of political stagnation, economical downpour, degrading international relations, social unrest (if it's not minorities, it will be firearms, or women, or workers) and just generally having to cope with him being an annoyance.
