Although I also associate this drink with the dubstep/gamer bros of the early '10s.

Energy Drinks when they first came out where such an interesting thing IDK how those things are still in business. I always feel sick after I drink them. Nothing will replace tea/coffee.

Wasn't mountain dew big in the early 2000s? There was an xbox and remember a lot of edgy ads from that time.
These seemed popular throughout Early 2000s ( and the late 90s) from I remember
Pepsi Blue - Exclusive to 2002 to 2004 Sprite Remix 2002 onwards Surge Snapple Fruitopia Gatorade (more popular for some reason? frost flavors and other new ones) Caprisun Brisk Iced Tea ( iced tea drinks to some extent)

I can remember Monster, Red Bull and Mother energy drinks being hugely popular around 2009/2010 especially. Those drinks kind of fed into the popularity of emo/scene around that time, at least that's how I perceived it. Even now if I were to think of the type of person who consumes those drinks, the first thing that would come to mind for me would be a tall, skinny 16 year old teen covered in tatts and sporting the emo-swoop hair.

Interesting perspective. I remember those drinks being popular with gamer bros, tuff guy types and more macho beardsters/ hipsters from like 2009 to the mid 2010s.

Black vitamin water was the official drink of emos y’all. And you had to take off the label and tape it your math binder or sad poetry notebook or something.

Red Bull started getting ads on TV ( Red bull gives you WINGGGGGGGGGGGS) around 2001/2002 it was really a cool ass thing. Amp and Monster got popular around 2005/2006. By 2009 everyone and their dog had an energy drink brand

Monster got popular way before that mid 2000s, but The whole energy drink craze kind of shifted to game bros in the 2010s Here is a Red bull ad from early 2002 it got REALLY popular around this time

Those clear water drinks in water bottles that looked like water but taste like juice. They were underrated, but they felt like everyone wanted them if they ran into them. I definitely remember Sprite Remix.
