{Spoiler} I was originally going to post this on inthe00s, but I felt like it was getting a bit repetitive constantly posting these types of questions on that site and not on here. Hopefully this doesn't count as decadeology since these types of discussions are usually insightful. When you think about it, 2015 was when 2010's culture was in full force. By then, everyone had a smartphone, Instagram, Snapchat and Twitter were popular. Facebook was no longer the cool website for teens anymore. By then, it got taken over by old people and it was seen as unhip. Politics was a lot more divisive than it was in 2010. 2015 was the year gay marriage was legalized in the United States, and it was when Trump announced that he was running for president. 2015 was when Black Lives Matter really started gaining more attention. All these things don't really sound that much different from 2020. But, even though 2015 was a core 2010's year in retrospect, there was still a lot of early 2010's influences left that made it a bit more like 2010 than 2020. In 2015, Skype was still used as a popular video chatting app. Kik was still popular, Obama was president, and even though Trump announced his run for presidency in 2015, it was still during a time where most people thought it was nothing but a joke. I'd have to say 2015 is still more like 2020 than 2010 despite the current pandemic. I won't deny that there are a lot of things that make 2015 more like 2010, but 2015 was the very start of what we have today, such as Trump, BLM, and the divisive politics.

Things that make 2015 closer to 2010: Obama's presidency, music, fashion, no pandemic.
Things that make 2015 closer to 2020: Populism, political division, technology, social media.

2015 seems closer to 2020 honestly. 2015 was more modern than 2010, in 2010 while smartphones were still gaining traction, feature phones were still popular. My mom had a feature phone in 2010.

Yeah, I feel like 2015 stands on it's own.

2010 by far.
Though, I'd say even 2019 has more in common with 2010 than 2020. The late '10s were basically a slow dying of the '10s, with the 2020 horror show killing the last vestiges.

Despite the pandemic, 2015 still feels closer to 2020. So much changed between 2010 and 2015, pop culture went through a moderate change, there was the smartphone revolution, end of the Iraq War, digital overtaking analogue in the film industry, the decline of physical media and the rise of tv/movie streaming and so on. Also, there was a very big social/attitude change between 2010 and 2015 that was very noticable to me.

2010. It's not even close. Corona ruined everything.
