I'm not sure how many of us here are Beatles fans, but I still thought it would be worth creating a general discussion thread based on arguably the greatest band of all time! I've been exposed to their music ever since I was little. My Dad is a huge Beatles fan and also a collector of Beatles memorabilia, so I've listened to all of their albums a countless number of times over the years and I've seen almost every Beatles documentary/film you can think of, such as the recent Eight Days a Week movie directed by Ron Howard. I'm sure it was a deliberate ploy by my Dad to get me interested in their work. I owned a VHS copy of "Rupert The Frog" movie (an animated film produced by Paul McCartney) when I was a toddler, and of course, I also happened to watch the "Thomas the Tank Engine" episodes with Ringo Starr as the voiceover. All the details regarding the history of the band and the subsequent fallout between the Fab Four, I am aware of. I wouldn't say that I am a Beatles fan as such, I would never buy an album of theirs or buy any Beatles memorabilia. However, I do have a huge amount of respect for them as artists and the influence that they have on the world. They did so much in those short 8 years, no other band can be compared to the level of popularity and influence that they've enjoyed for well over half a century now. If you have any remote interest in the band, how did you become a fan of their music? What is your favourite Beatles album? Do you believe they will ever experience a decline in popularity/relevancy or will their legacy live on long after both Paul and Ringo have passed?
I'll leave this here. One of my favourite Beatles songs:

I am a hardcore Beatles fan, I know loads of obscure trivia due to having binge-watched their 12-hour (yes, you read that right) documentary a number of years ago. My favorite albums are Rubber Soul, Sgt. Pepper, and Abbey Road.

It's this one: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Beatles_Anthology_(TV_series)I believe it was included as part of a re-release of that 3-part Anthology disc collection with all those demos and b-sides.

I enjoy em. Even though I prefer Rubber Soul and on, I got all their records.

I thought that's what you might have been referring to, but I thought i'd ask anyway. I haven't actually watched the Anthology before. I've seen almost every official Beatles release there's been, but the Anthology is the one thing I have yet to watch.

It's a bit meandering towards the middle but I still learned very interesting stuff.

What do you think of the two singles that were released along with the Anthology, "Free as a Bird?" and "Real Love?" I don't mind them if i'm being honest, although it is hard to listen to them without thinking of the context behind each of the songs.

Free as a Bird is just bad. Bad bad bad. Real Love is better, but if you ask me, nothing and no one will ever replicate the magic of the original quartet actually working in concert with one another. If you ask me, using John’s old demos doesn’t count.
