Yes, I mean this year, society really fell apart. I mean it is like we are living in an apocalypse, and I see so many idiots outside playing around without wearing masks and not social distancing whatsoever as if there is no deadly virus out there still trying to infect and kill people. Like the park I live nearby, everyday, I see groups of idiots sitting on the grass together with their friends, and even the basketball courts are still having basketball games. I feel like that is what is resulting in the increase of new cases. What state are you in? We're reopening too, but our state has seen a dramatic decline in cases, I'm happy to say, because people were complying. California. Too many extensions for reopening that nothing has been opened yet. What state are you in?

Well let's just say my governor has done a bang-up job where our federal government has completely derogated its duty to protect its citizens.

I was at an airport in New York either in August or September 2001. I met these kids at the arcade. We decided to play hide and seek at the airport. Eventually my mom decided to go look for us and couldn't find us (although she found me), and then this geriatric lady was telling her stories about how she lost her children at this airport and never saw them again even after 20 years, and my mom broke down crying and panicking. That was some real epic hide and seek. Oh the game I was obsessed with most at the arcade was Rampage, god damn that game is addictive. As for 9/11, I don't really remember anything from that day in particular. But I do remember the following days. A Hindu temple in my city got arsoned and I do think the mosque had its windows shattered. My aunt told me it was because of the attacks on the WTC, so I thought the Americans were bombing Canada LOL Everyone was so on edge. I remember I was at my cousin's cousin's house and I really wanted to play the Lion King game on his Genesis but our parents were watching the "mysterious" Pentagon crash on loop, and I was wondering if they ever get bored of watching the same news all day. After repeated begging from us they snapped and screamed at us, it was really scary. Oh yeah, there was a huge fight in my neighbourhood too after someone put a "God Bless America" sign on their window. There was a huge commotion and half the adults in my neighbourhood thought 9/11 was an inside job and that offended the other half of the neighbourhood. A lot of kids were crying because they thought they couldn't be friends anymore if their parents were fighting LOL. I had the homeroom teacher from hell, so I'm not particularly fond of this month. What I liked though is that Grade 4 (me) and Grade 5 were in the same classroom, so I got to make a lot of new friends. There was def phobia from anyone that was from the middle east, If you were of middle eastern decent and in the 2001-2002 year forget it you were living in hell. You would see it all the time @ lunch. Althought it might be the same, there was also a lot of reverse racism in certain ways that was starting at the time and would peak in the mid or later 2000s in general on some level. I would say this was when a lot of people got a bit more conservative minded as well. Earlier era in general, even 1999-2000, seemed a bit more open minded and liberal.

I don't mean to bash 2000, 2001 for anyone who truly liked it, and it wasn't the absolute worse imo. But I definately feel 1998 to early 2000 and mid to late 2002 to early 2004 were much better.
Even before September 11th, I felt the pop culture at some point in 2000 was getting stale and just less exciting for me personally. All the colorful, experimental and energetic vibes of earlier years seemed to be a bit lost.
Then again in every era you always have good, I'm the launch of the PS2, N64 games and dreamcast and PC games from that month or era can be seen as memorable. There still was quality music on the charts as well (I'm more of a less commerical stuff). Definately some interesting things and some late 90s holdovers.
I think tony hawk's pro skater and skateboarding was getting really big around this time. Also Jackass/CKY/Pranking videos.

I loved 2002 lol thats my fav year of the 2000s Despite 9/11 I still enjoyed 2001 and I include it with the 2001-2002 school year as being on of the best.

I think it is obvious that every year in the 90s-2010s would be relaxing compared to 2020, even 2001 despite of 9/11.

It's just...unpleasant. That kinda just leaves me with 2000 and 2008/2009.

That kinda just leaves me with 2000 and 2008/2009. 2000 is one of those years for me where I am neutral, it wasn't bad but it wasn't like balls to the walls amazing. I am kind of biased because the 2000-2001 school year was one big waiting period for the 2001-2002 year to start ( I was sent to a bad girls school until Fall 2001)I was literally counting down the days on a calendar until I could go to 8th grade with my other classmates at my normal school. 2008 I have nothing bad to say about it I though it was a fun year (not as vibrant as other 2000s years) but I thought it was a solid 8/10. 2009 well all know I have been coming around to SLOWLY appreciating. Overall id say 2008 was prob the keystone year of the late 2000s. It just was such a step up from 2007 and it's dark and digital vibe. 2008 is a really hard year to hate despite the economy going bust in the fall. It had that energy that makes IT VERY HARD to hate.

Honestly lately I've been really coming around to the early '10s. Because of that reality check you and I have frequently discussed.

One thing about this month that’s not related to 9/11 is this was the month Adult Swim started airing on CN. And if I recall it was only on on Sunday nights? They didn’t make it every day until 2003ish.

Idk if this counts but the Miami Herald ran a story about Netflix on 9/11.
