I remember this from my mom's workplace's resort outing from maybe 2001. (I've been there yearly, 2012 and 2020 being the exceptions.) I remember thinking this was the most melodic song I had ever heard.

After finding these videos online, I now know why I have some subconscious associations with songs/artists and certain things, such as why I associate The Corrs with Christchurch, and why I associate the second song with water fountains.

Several thoughts: 1. I can't believe that I just took for granted when I was 4 going on 5 or 5 that a non-Christmas song could have Santas in its video.
2. YouTube thinks that the song in the background is Hibang by 2nd Nvelop. (When I looked that up, it led me to an anti-Estrada protest album from early 2001. You see, the song I mentioned used the same instrumental as this karaoke cover.)
3. While the singer's accent for the most part is barely there, it could be distractingly thick when he sings ''I'll let her rough me up'' and ''diamond map to the stars.''

WTF, did nobody give the vocalist the actual lyrics? This really reminds me of episode 27 of The Nekci Menij Show, where Arana Grondy sang Problem in Merier Care's voice and with these lyrics: abebehevathoahata awanalaya awayahahah aralawata awachahahah temabebabeba wacachalama aevathoashanawana agadahaya awachahahah

Two landmarks I'm familiar with thanks to karaoke videos: You see, '90s Surfers Paradise used to have this circle-shaped Red Rooster branch. It was in the back of my mind since my childhood, and rewatching karaoke vids has confirmed my mind wasn't playing tricks on me. Just found out the fountains at the very beginning of this video were at Christchurch.
