Inspired by Telso's thread, what are some of your favourite songs from what is arguably one of the least appreciated years for music out of the noughties? 2009.

Here are some of mine: One of the best Australian songs to have been released that year, IMO. I actually wasn't too bothered about it at the time (mainly because it was played to death on the radio), but I quite like it now. It makes me feel pretty nostalgic. This was my favourite song when I was 10. I can remember asking my Mum to search for it on iTunes, but because I could only remember the "I can't get you out of my head" lyric, it only came up with Kylie Minogue's "Can't Get You Outta My Head". I didn't know what the name of the song was.

I loved this year for the K-Pop and J-Rock but I'll spare you all.
These are the English songs I liked

Before we had Lizzo, we had Gossip!
To be honest, at the time I wasn't that much of a fan of this, but now I actually think it's quite good and would have to be one of the best songs to have become a huge hit that year.

I've been feeling a bit nostalgic for this over the past few days as I heard it on the radio for the first time in years, and it reminded me of how I used to jokingly call this the "Got a KitKat" song at the time. I still like to pretend that Will.I.Am is really saying "Got a KitKat, Got a KitKat" in the song.

I've been really loving this song lately even though I've never cared about it before. 2009 pop was full of electronic bleep-bloops, and this is possibly one of the best uses of those bleepy bloops. It's also helped that Cheryl has quite a nice voice.
