What recent year do you think is starting to feel stale? Meaning that it is not completely disconnected but a lot of the components of the year feel very different from today and no longer fresh. I would say 2016 for various reasons. Maybe early 2017 is showing it's age too.

2015 is starting to feel much more dated and outlandish now.

I would say somewhere between 2015-2017 is where it’s starting to show it’s age.

Gonna have to agree with some of you here about 2015. It was probably the last year until political polarization fully permeated society.

Gonna have to agree with some of you here about 2015. It was probably the last year until political polarization fully permeated society. The events of that year, most notably Caitlyn Jenner's coming out on the cover of Vanity Fair magazine and the legalization of same-sex marriage in the US, with Obama lighting up the White House in a rainbow color scheme, were significant catalysts for a lot of what we are dealing with today. Without those two things having occurred, we wouldn't have Trump and without Trump, the late '10s would have still been polarized but less so and coronavirus would have still been a disaster but it wouldn't have been anything close to this kind of catastrophe.

I know this sounds very unrealistic but even Early/Mid 2017 is showing its age, it feels quite different from today, especially with the lack of upbeat music, the Covid-19 Pandemic, etc.

Fidget Spinners were everywhere in that time but not anymore lol.

Culturally, I would say 2016 (might throw early 2017 in there). But, in terms of everyday life (such as technology), 2011 (mainly the first half) is the last year to seem a bit dated.

It really depends on what is meant by "age". I wouldn't say 2015 is dated at all, however it is starting to feel somewhat removed from the present day. Songs such as "Cheerleader", "Uptown Funk" etc. are too upbeat and poppy to really 'fit-in' with the overall mood and zeitgeist of today, there's no way they would make it onto the Top-40 charts alongside Billie Eilish and Doja Cat. From a personal perspective though, 2015 is definitely starting to seem like another era as I was still only 16 and in Year 10 that year.
