NPC, founded in 1962, operates 1,227 Pizza Hut and 393 Wendy’s stores across the U.S., according to court papers. NPC and Pizza Hut have struggled with rising labor and food costs while trying to expand delivery and move away from traditional dine-in restaurants. The Overland Park, Kansas-based company also faces cut-throat competition from rivals such as Domino’s Pizza Inc. and Papa John’s International Inc. The company has $903 Mill in debt

Now Pizza Hut is filing for bankruptcy? I hate this year with a burning passion. Almost everything culturally relevant in American society is fading away.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Pizza Hut is my favorite pizza restaurant! I'm a Michigander and I'll admit that I have been cheating on Michigan-based pizza restaurant Little Caesars (Pizza Pizza!) with Pizza Hut. Pizza Hut is sooooooooo better than Little Caesars. I am going to miss Pizza Hut's P'zones. Those things were very tasty. I am also going to miss Pizza Hut's delicious WingStreet honey BBQ wings. *sighs* I guess the CEOs of the other major pizza restaurants are partying right now and are saying that they outpizzed the hut.

Wow, that's massive news! It's probably only the beginning though for major franchises filing bankruptcy and closing down over the next few months. It will be interesting to see if this will affect Pizza Hut's operations internationally.

Not much of a loss to me since I hate their pizza.
But damn, all those poor guys losing their jobs... it's just awful.

While I hate to see people suffer via losing their jobs/livelihood, I otherwise say good riddance to places that serve bad, unhealthy food.

Well I think most of the brands we grew up with aren't going to survive COVID-19. We are going to have to rebuild an entirely new consumer culture and what is normal will look very different in 2040 than it was in 2019.
That said, I used to order pizza from Pizza Hut weekly. It isn't gourmet pizza and never has been, but for quick delivery pizza it used to be a decent choice. I always thought it was better than Little Caesars or Dominos. Sometime around 2013 or so they changed the recipe slightly and the pizza started becoming much more greasy to the point where I can hardly even stomach it anymore. That's when I stopped ordering from Pizza Hut. I've given it a few tries in years since and it's been just as bad. In my opinion, that is what killed Pizza Hut.
