Genuinely interested to see the poll results for this as the Early 2010s in particular seem to be an era that people of all different ages appear to appreciate. I quite often come across nostalgia posts online from people who were right in the middle of their childhoods at the time and they understandably are fond of the era as a whole, but there also appears to be a lot of praise coming from people who were teens or young adults during the Early 2010s, especially when it is to do with electropop, pre-timeline Facebook and the hipster sub-culture.
What's your opinion on this? To those of you who were college-aged, would you much rather have experienced the bulk of your teens in the Early 2010s and been in high school during the era? Are you happy that you experienced the Early 2010s at the ages that you did?

Absolutely a kid. The culture was so upbeat and fun and the whole era had some awesome games and some awesome movies. I have so much nostalgia for the early 2010s.

I was 11-14 during the Early 2010s, so I personally got the unique experience of being able to relate to some of the kid culture during the first couple of years, while also having been old enough to have engaged and been the target audience for the teen-orientated culture as well. I joined YouTube in 2010 at the age of 11, Facebook in 2011 when I was 12, and I experienced half of the Early 2010s while in high school. They're neither my childhood or my true teenage years.
If i'm being honest, I didn't enjoy being a teen during the Early 2010s. The bright, neon aesthetics and electropop music felt as though they had little to no substance at all, it just wasn't for me. One thing I will admit though, Facebook was pretty fun back then (especially pre-Timeline). I would sometimes get into "poking" matches with a couple of my friends and there was so much more going on, a lot of people were into the free games that you could play and people would make statuses about anything. Also, smartphones and apps were still a bit of a novelty when I was 13.
The reason why I picked "adult" though is that I think they would have been a great time to have graduated in, imagine being in your late teens or early-mid 20s when the likes of Foster The People, Gotye etc. were on the charts and hipsterism was becoming in-vogue. They must have felt like such a new, refreshing time after being a teenager during the mid-late 2000s.

I actually feel like the early 2010's would be a bit sucky to experience as a teenager, since that was when cyberbullying was at an all time high.
It was definitely a good era to experience as a child though. I'm sure it would've also been good to experience as a college-aged student with all the party music.

I don't think it would have been great to be a college person in that era, if the job market seemed so scarily unstable and unreliable. It would have stresssed the hell out of me at least. But you didn't give a care in the world and just wanted to party then sure I guess, it was your era. With so many different social media platforms nowadays and screentime being at all-time high, it makes sense that the prevalence of cyberbullying is much greater these days.

I actually enjoyed the early 2010s as a college student, although granted in large part that was because I intended to go to graduate school after anyway. I figured a few more years would insulate me from the worst effects of the recession so I could emerge into a better job market later.

I loved the early 2010s as a teenager. By 2012 I was legal drinking age and let me tell you the parties were :fire: I don't blame you, they must have felt like such a huge improvement over the Late 2000s. At least you got enjoyment out of them. I hated being a teen during the early 2010s, listening to the electropop songs from that time just brings me back horrible memories of my first year of high school and of being 13.

I was in middle school during the early 2010s, late summer 2010-mid spring 2012. While I’m grateful 4 a few things from that era, I wouldn’t wanna go back. Plus it wasn’t all that. 🤷🏽♂️ Despite all the craziness in 2020, I’m still in a much better place than I was from 2010-mid 2018.

Throughout the early 2010s, I loved it. I was still considered a kid during that time and I could care less if someone said that I wasn't. It was a great experience YouTube was still in its prime, electropop was the main genre you ever heard on the radio, awesome console games released for Xbox, PS, DS, Wii or any other console out there. I think that time period would best be experienced as a kid rather than a teen or an adult.
