TV, music and fashion was 10/10
I liked how Grunge was becoming a joke at this time and more experimentation was being done. Nintendo 64 dropped and was a hit for a few months. Tomb Raider dropping was amazing as well. Honestly I will put 1996 as my second favorite 90s year to live in. Space Jam was a classic, Twister, Beavis & butthead do America. SCREAM ! All classics
The Simpsons was ON FIRE, the nWo was formed this year as well as Stone cold Steve Austin dropping stunners on everyone. This year needs to be talked about more.....

I wish I was in 1996 instead of 2020, definitely.

1996 had a bit of almost every era in the 90s but predominately mid 90s. I feel it had the best balance in retrospect.
I miss when marvel and dc universe was mainly in animated shows, comics and trading cards and not movies. There was SUCH a big difference, the whole universe felt cooler, darker and just more interesting at the time compared to the 2000s/2010s era.

1996 would have to be one of my favourite years for pop culture ever, it was such a great year all-round for music, movies, TV shows etc. and I think it would have been awesome to have experienced it as a teenager or a young adult. I just love the overall vibe that I get from the releases and trends of the time. The pop culture was perfect for someone like myself who felt insecure about themselves as teens and retreated to music as a means of escape, I really feel as though I was born in the wrong era in that regard. If I was a teen in 1996, I know for sure I would have bought the CD singles of artists such as Oasis, Alanis Morissette etc. as they were released, go and see Beavus & Butthead: Do America at the cinemas, watch new episodes of Seinfeld and The Simpsons as they went to air. Too bad I was a teen in rotten 2016. Anyhow, when it comes to what I like from 1996, these are some of my favourite songs from that year: {Spoiler}
Among many others.

I liked it at the time, I was getting sick of Grunge and you had tv shows making front of it like The simpsons (which ment Grunge was def on the way out ) I didn't watch Seinfeld until later but I do remember seeing NBC commercials as it aired LIVE promoting new episodes. 1996 is when you started seeing all these Teen Witch shows come out, it was kind of cool. Highlight of 1996 was def the week N64 dropped I remember there was a line outside of Toys R Us to get it.

It was hard to keep up with everything but reruns helped. Too many shows to keep up with and watch, there like no need for internet, TV was enough. You can say that about the 90s in a way. Just way too much good stuff at once.

1996 was one of the earliest years I remember really experiencing, and since I was 3 and 4 at the time, I have a lot of fondness for it. However, aside from The Hunchback of Notre Dame, I didn't discover most of its core culture until years later (i.e., I had no memories of 2Pac dying or even the 1996 presidential election).

1996 was the Simpsons peak Simpsons were still pretty big then. You also had comics, cards and sega/snes games throughout the mid 90s. I think beavis and butthead, simpsons, ren and stimpy and duckman were also pretty big in 1996. Spring/summer 1998 starting slowly from late 1997 south park became the new thing also a lot of them stopped airing. Ironically at this time you had this last gasp of beavis and butthead and simpsons interest. Cartman dolls and oh my god they killed kenny t-shirts were at carnivals and mall everywhere in 1998. I like that early merch, something about it.

That hype was so real and I think Nintendo payed off several sitcoms to hype it because there was a bunch of n64 references in TGIF shows the month it dropped

1996 was one of the best years in music. I turned 16, and It was the year I started going to music stores, such as Strawberries and Sam Goody, and buying the latest cassette and CD singles. It was my favorite pass time.
