Aside from politics and memes, the mid-10s were almost a carbon copy of the late 10s The same kind of music and aesthetics were popular, just updated for the late 10s The mid 2010s were kinda inconsisent. 2013-14 school year is closer to the early 2010s 2014-15 school is closer to 50/50 2015-16 school year is closer to the late 2010s.

Mid 2013 through mid 2014 felt like a software update of the early 2010s, despite being mid 2010s culturally. Late 2014 and early 2015 were in between, but that's also when the first late 2010s influences started coming in. Mid 2015 through mid 2016 seems like a late 2010s beta, despite being mid 2010s culturally. Seems pretty even, but I'd go with the late 2010s because politics got divisive and toxic in the mid 2010s. I trace modern societal conflicts back to the mid 2010s. Yeah I agree, the first half of the mid 2010s was essentially early 2010s on steroids. While there a shift at point between winter 12 to spring 2013, I don't see why people downplay how connected 2014 is to the early 2010s. You could almost get away with everything you wore and enjoyed in 2011-early 2013 in mid 2013 to 2014, with a few exceptions.

June 2015 - Feb 2017 is basically one massive transition period from the mid 10s to late 10s anyway.

So many of the most obnoxious drops of the 2010s came from that year alone.
