Also, just out of curiosity, why do you consider 2014 to be the cheesiest year of this decade?

What do you think of Eurodance, which was a genre that was popular around the same time as grunge? I'm not overly keen on the genre, but I guess it's not too bad. I don't dislike it. What do you think of it? I think that it is a good genre. Replying to your original post, I believe that glam metal was rapidly declining in 1990. 1983-1984: The beginning of glam metal 1985-1986: The rise of glam metal 1987-1988: The peak of glam metal 1989-1990: The fall of glam metal 1991-1992: The death of glam metal

This might actually be a good idea for a topic. Off-topic, but I agree that 1962 was a very cheesy year for music. Here is another song from that year which is just as cheesy as the examples you gave:

I should definitely add this to the list of cheesy hit songs from 1990:
This track was only popular in the US, but it's still a supreme example of just how many absurd ideas rappers would spit verses about in the early '90s. The production is pretty darn effective honestly, but the chorus is seriously one of the most annoying things I've heard in popular music and possibly the single biggest ear worm of the entire decade. For the same reason I despise Jibbs' "Chain Hang Low," I just can't back a rap song that uses something ultra-kiddie as its creative basis. It's not emotionally resonant and just sounds ridiculous. Ever since Todd in the Shadows reviewed this song as part of One Hit Wonderland, I have had enormous trouble getting it out of my head.

It wasn’t a hit in the US or UK until 1997, though. Pretty sure, too, it was a hit in Australia around early 1998.

Not just music, but movies that year were ridiculously cheesy, such as Batman and Robin. Not only do I consider 1997 the cheesiest year of the 90s, but the cheesiest pop culture year PERIOD.

Unpopular Opinion, I really like the cheesy, over the top, super colorful neon aesthetic of 1990. 1990 (and to a extent, late 1989 and early 1991) had a more distinct feel from the “classic” 1980s and the then upcoming first hints of the 1990s. Pop Culture of 1990 was very eccentric and very intriguing to me.
