A common Narrative among people that are either too young to remember or were not born is that Nintendo ruled supreme in all of the 90s.
Not true at all, Sega ate into Nintendo's market share and it was not until DKC was released that Nintendo caught up. Sega had apple like
aggressive marketing campaign and better pop culture awareness. Sega was seen as the COOL ADULT MATURE system. It's not to say
no one had a SNES, but.......... I noticed everyone jumping onto the SNES ship once DKC was released including me. But up until then
Sega Genesis ruled the world. The only exception that can be made is Game boy was obv more popular then Game Gear, but I am talking
more about home console versions. Sega has a lot of IP that they never made new games for, with Nintendo u had Zelda, Metroid etc etc
so those brands are constantly in the minds of gamers alike.

Seinfeld had tons of Sega spotting in it's episodes, Sonic 3 and Sonic Spinball are seen at
Jerry's corner video store. Bart Simpson and Mill house are seeing playing a Sega Gensises
in many early seasons as well.
