1. "Violent Pornography" - System of a Down 2. "Why Do You Love Me" - Garbage 3. "The Ghost of You" - My Chemical Romance 4. "Lyla" - Oasis 5. "Dakota" - Stereophonics 6. "Voodoo Child" - Rogue Traders 7. "Holloback Girl" - Gwen Stefani 8. "La La" - Ashlee Simpson 9. "Way To Go!" - Rogue Traders 10. "Shiver" - Natalie Imbruglia
Really, really, atrocious year for music all-round, IMO, at least that was the case if you lived outside the United Kingdom. I've checked out the UK Charts from the Mid 2000s a few times before and looking at their charts has always left me feeling somewhat jealous. In terms of quality, the UK Charts really were a class above what was concurrently on the charts in countries such as Australia and especially the United States. We did choose to import a number of the British releases of the time, such as the Sugababes' "Push The Button" and the Stereophonics' "Dakota". However, we basically only got the bare minimum. As a result, I have really only listened to the British songs that were hits here. I'm sure there would be more songs I could add to my list if I were to one day go through the UK Charts and listen to songs that i'm not already familiar with, such as those by McFly or Kaiser Chiefs.

I always felt that the most popular music from 2005-2006 is like a golden era for chav music. What are some good mainstream rock songs? I know mtv2 and much loud and possibly rage were still airing some decent rock and metal and there were still some big budget and creative rock music videos in mid 2004 to very early 2005.

What are some good mainstream rock songs? All of the songs I mentioned in my previous post (well, except for "Holloback Girl", since its not rock). System of a Down's double album is really good though.

I used to think 2005 as pretty mediocre and forgettable for music, sandwished between two more interesting years. But now coming back to it, it was actually pretty solid! This year sure had a bad tendency of sending some really shoddy stuff to the top of the charts though, giving some sort of a false impression. It's still one of the weakest years of the 2000s though.
1. Missy Elliott ft. Ciara & Fatman Scoop - "Lose Control" 2. Amerie - "1 Thing" 3. Green Day - "Holiday" 4. Coldplay - "Speed of Sound" 5. The Game ft. 50 Cent - "Hate It or Love It"
6. System of a Down - "B.Y.O.B." 7. Gwen Stefani ft. Eve - "Rich Girl" 8. Gorillaz ft. Shaun Ryder - "Dare" 9. Kanye West ft. Jamie Foxx - "Gold Digger" 10. Mariah Carey ft. Fatman Scoop & Jermaine Dupri - "It's Like That"
11. Robbie Williams - "Tripping" 12. Kelly Clarkson - "Behind These Hazel Eyes" 13. Fall Out Boy - "Sugar, We're Goin' Down" 14. Rob Thomas - "Lonely No More" 15. The Pussycat Dolls - "Stickwitu" (Hey, shut up, I love this dumb song)
16. Arctic Monkeys - "I Bet You Look Good on the Dancefloor" 17. The Sugababes - "Push the Button" 18. Rihanna - "Pon de Replay" 19. The Chemical Brothers - "Galvanize" 20. Gorillaz ft. De La Soul - "Feel Good Inc."
