When a new decade begins and for the first few years, the decade doesn’t have an identity yet and is still mostly similar to the previous one. Whatever decade it was 20 years ago seems to be the most nostalgic. Like how in the 2000s it was mostly 80s nostalgia, 2010 with 90s nostalgia, and the 2020s are shaping up to be mostly 2000s nostalgia. However whatever decade happened prior to the previous one seems to be temporarily forgotten and unnoticed. Especially in the middle part of a decade.
For example: In the mid 2010s, nobody talked about the 2000s In the mid 2000s, nobody talked about the 90s In the mid 90s, nobody talked about the 80s In the mid 80s, nobody talked about the 70s In the mid 70s, nobody talked about the 60s
Not until the end of the decade do people finally start to begin reminiscing on the previous decade, like how early signs of 2000s nostalgia began to pop up in the late 2010s. Why does this always seem to happen, and have you noticed this as well?

Why does this always seem to happen, and have you noticed this as well? in the late 1990s people started reminiscing about the 80s , Diddy sampled 80s songs, and u had stuff like Wedding Singer, the 80s revival wouldn't fully take off until 2002 when That 80s show and Vice City came out
As for the 1990s nostalgia in the mid 2000s In the mid 2000s there was a show called I love the 90s on VH1 that aired in 2004/2005, there was also Sega plug and play 90s video games that played off of the nostalgia, not to mention Sega hits collection for Xbox and ps2, in the mid 2000s NICK had a NICK REWIND block that would air 90s Nick Cartoons. Nick also added 90s shows to NICK @ NITE in the mid 2000s. So it was def there just not as big as it was in mid 2010s as the 2000s was mostly preoccupied with 80s nostalgia.
Mind you in October 2005 had this song as 1# hit it was a throwback to the mid 90s
So yes the 90s was def on peoples minds in the mid 2000s. I even remember people saying in the mid 2000s they miss how the 90s was in class.
