Nice..
Btw were you goth ?
Interesting I always thought guyliner was an early 2000s thing. I remember this was around the time guys could get away with black nail polish.

I was not, I saw a few guys wear black nail polish in my class. I just had to make atmosphere thread for 98 due to how off beat it was. The 1997-1998 school year in my top 3 of the 90s for sure.

I like the late 90s, but can't stand the rest of the decade at the most.

It’s not just the dark or cheesy/boring parts of the early to mid 90s that can be not as exciting for some, it’s the spirit of how awesome and creative things were that sets 1989-1996 apart imo. I remember March to May 1998 South Park t-shirts and the show were suddenly massive, it was like Simpsons/Bart Simpson shirts in 1990. Everyone was wearing them. Was the Gameboy camera out in May ?

This was a month before I came into existence. IMO, the influence teen-pop and the Y2K aesthetics had on the overall "look and feel" of the Late '90s is kind of overstated. These pictures aren't too far removed from the grittier, grungy-mid '90s and to be quite honest, this is actually what comes to mind when I think of the Late '90s, not frosted tips or singlet shirts. The girl in the first photo is even wearing a flannelette shirt too. The vibes these pictures give off have more similarities with 1996 than what they do with 2000. Tbh, it would be good if we had more "atmosphere" topics that were focused on years from the '80s or '90s. I appreciate all the time and effort John Titor you've put into making the '00s-based atmosphere topics, but I feel as though they have been well and truly covered.

Adidas classics had cooler image in the 90s, it wasn't purely sports or vintage luxury oriented as much as it is now. ..

That's why I'm proud of my memories from when I was 1 or 2: while I don't remember a time before teen pop, at least I remember when fashion was still quite 1996ish.

Fashion in the early and mid 90s was quite the spectacle being a kid, I will say 96-98 was leaps and bounds better fashion wise

I like the late 90s, but can't stand the rest of the decade at the most. I’m with ya man! The grungy, depressive attitude seemed so irritating & annoying!
