Think about it. Everyone looks back fondly on summer 2016. Then came late 2016 and that sense of normalcy went away. The world has never known peace since then.

idk I feel like that sense of normalcy went away in like 2014/2015. 2016 was when things just started to get wild.

I actually enjoyed the late 2010s for the most part. But you're right that 2016 was the last optimistic year. I remember November 9, 2016, being the darkest, most shocking day at my school. It was like a sudden cultural switch just occurred right at that moment.

I actually remember people at my school crying over the results. It was definitely something I've never experienced before.

Oof. Yeah November 9, 2016 was the day the mid 2010s came to an end. Everything since then has been one big disaster

2016 was a truly transformative year. I miss it. You're not wrong. Late 2016 definitely had a big shift (for obvious reasons) though you could argue things were already changing in mid 2016 too.

Agreed. Late 2016 was the cultural start of the late 2010s & the cultural time period that lasted until early 2020.

That was another sign the mid 2010s were waving goodbye.

Here's how I divide the 2010s:
Winter 2009 to Spring 2013: The early 2010s
Summer 2013 to Summer 2016: The mid 2010s
Autumn 2016 to TBD: The late 2010s
