The song's composition sounds way more '90s, but the production is veering a bit into early 2000s territory. The song itself was at its height in both 1999 and 2000. Honestly, it's a pretty quintessentially Y2K song.

Sounds a little too sharp and futuristic for the funkier and bouncy beats of even the 1997-98 part of the 90s, but at same time its saccharine melody and tone wouldn't fly after 2001. Even the teen pop songs of the mid-00s had a bit more edge than that.
Guess it's another song from the 1999-2000 island.

Your Typical 1998-2001 song basically. It’s a bit too y2k for 1998-1999 and would have felt a bit passé and not perfectly representative of late 2000-2001 which honestly was different than 99-00 vibe and style wise. Maybe it could pass in summer 1999 but I’m not exactly sure. It still feels strictly autumn 99 to early 00 maybe mid 00 at most then again not really.
