I remember owning anything in the colour white was considered "gay". When I was thinking about getting a Nintendo DS Lite as a Christmas present when I was 9, there was an all-white coloured DS advertised in a catalogue my Mum had looked at earlier in the day and she suggested to me not to get it because a white-coloured DS would be "girly". That was back in 2008. The homophobia and politically incorrect comments continued well until the end of the decade. I remember the kids at my school still used "gay" as an insult until at least 2010. 2010 is pretty much when people fully realized how ignorant it was to use gay as an insult. You could sense a change as early as 2004, some people I knew were already rockin skinny jeans in 2005/06, something you would never think of doing a few years earlier. You are definitely right, it wasn't until 2010 when this change was in full steam. Yep. Looking back, its incredible to think how much has changed in the world from a societal point of view from even just the second-half of the 2000s. I can distinctively remember when kids with special needs were openly called "retards"; I mean, kids would even say that right in front of teachers. I can remember sitting outside a fish & chip shop with my two cousins and grandparents when I was 10 and there was this kid walking towards the shop with his Mum who clearly had a social disability of some sort. I think I said something like "there's something wrong with him" and my older cousin explained, "I think he's just retarded". People used to make those comments so casually, it's hard to believe now.

I love the culture, technology balance, sound, internet and energy. The only aspects I probably dislike is how it really was easy to fall into "Uncool geek" status out of something you really enjoy. You had to really fit in groups and dress a certain way. I didn't like Aaliyah's death and tv wasn't as amazing in the rest of the decade, 2006-2009.

I say I’d like to be a teen in the 2000s, but now that I think about it, I’m good lol. Today is really the most tolerant we’ve ever been when it comes to that stuff, besides the alt right minority. I really do think my generation cares. I think it’s partially because of social media. So many of us grew up hearing opinions and meeting different people from around the world. People say we’re sensitive but is that such a bad thing? I mean yeah we’re sensitive, we were kids in the 2000s and teens in the 2010s during war, recession, disaster, environmental collapse, and injustice, plastered all over our phones so we can’t ignore it.

The younger generations get far too much flack in my opinion, most members of generation Z I have met are actually quite nice and opened minded, a very misunderstood generation. I always thought that generation z kinda resembles generation x a bit considering the critical nature that both generations actually share. Millennials are also very unfairly criticized, it seems that there is always a news headine about millennials killing some industry, like the napkin, bar soap, motorcycle, cereal or the mayo industry?
