This is kind of like a rant/Ted talks, but nostalgia is something that is in our minds, the yearning for how things used to be. If
only X_______ and X____________ was back man that would be awesome, that would be a whole nother level. I will give you
a few examples of what I mean with this. Revisiting nostalgia is never the same when you go back for a moment.
Blockbuster Video-
So a year or 2 ago I went to the last Blockbuster in bend Oregon, I was amazed and was surreal that I was walking in a Blockbuster for the first time in years, but...... after 20 min the nostalgia wore off and realized it was kind of a pain looking for Dvd's in the aisle, It kind out grew it's reunion super fast and I got tired of it, what made matters worse is near my old stomping grounds there was ANOTHER video rental store called Family Video that acted and looked identical to Blockbuster, and yes I did go inside and the nostalgia wore off once again.
MTV TRL -
I went to a MTV TRL taping when MTV brought the show back in 2017, I was beyond stoked, it was TRL ! Total Request Live ! Nope...... the nostalgia wore off stupid quick, we were watching videos that could have been clicked if we went on youtube, sitting there for 2 hours waiting for a countdown (at that time MTV brought back the countdown) but none of it was exclusive, all of it was on youtube On Demand at any time, to make matters worse the set looked even worse then old stage, it looked like cheap cardboard tbh.
As you can see MTV canceled TRL shortly after again lol
Circuit City -
So a year ago for halloween the old Circuit City came back and opened has a spooky store with costumes, I walked in side and it looked exactly the same, same shelves, same TVS actually and everything, after 5 min
it out wore it's welcome and I got bored.
Michael Jordan playing on the Wizards -
in the early 2000s MJ himself returned to the NBA to the Wizards of course..... I attended a game in 2003 and MJ sucked, he could not even move(granted he was older at that time) but it left a really bad taste in my mouth... it was never the same as the bulls Jordan we all know and love. When everyone was leaving for the parking spots I could overhear people saying their image of MJ is ruined, and wow not what I expected.
So what I am trying to say is when revisiting old places/environments/stores they usually aren't able to keep up with the image we had in our mind way back when. They tend to fade off very quickly nostalgia wise.
