Does anyone realize that the summer of 2013 had a very weird atmosphere? It wasn't the early 10s but the mid 10s haven't completely formed yet. Everything feels like it meshes together. Vine was starting to kick off and became the top downloaded app. Candy Crush was being played by everyone including your parents. One Direction fever was at a max. Hipster-inspired fashion was a must-have. Electropop's final period of chart success. The last period for skeumorphic look for iPhones.
For my personal memories, I just graduated from middle school and went to Miami for a week to spend time with family. I also remembered getting a new Samsung Galaxy around this time. It was a chill summer for me.

It felt kind of empty to me. I almost died so that Summer gets an automatic F from me I didn't like the music or pop culture that was going on aside from Justin Timberlake

I remember doing the Harlem Shake as part of a graduation ceremony in the summer (I hated it), but that song was popular way earlier in the year. The mid-2010s was approaching with songs like "Clarity" becoming hits and Vine becoming dominant. While I'm not exactly a fan of that summer, it was alright. Summer 2016 with Pokémon Go and the Olympics was better imo.

Mid 2010s culture had quite a presence in summer 2013 but, it was still a bit more early 2010s. There was a bit of an emptiness that year that 2012 atleast had.

It felt like equally early 2010s & mid 2010s @ the same time. By fall 2013, it felt like the mid 2010s, although early 2010s culture was relevant during the 2013-2014 school year.

If there's one thing that really defines this summer for me, it's Minecraft. Minecraft was popular before and after this, but Summer 2013 was the absolute PEAK of Minecraft. It seems every single video on the front page was a Minecraft video. Merch was also everywhere. Anyways personally, I regard 2013 in general as a mid 2010s year with the calmness and optimism of the early 2010s. The first half of 2014 was like this too, but after August, with Gamergate and the Ferguson riots, the vibe shifted towards a more politically charged and "woke" vibe.

2013 was more early 10s than mid 10s. The late part is probably more mid 10s though.
