Music of 2010 vs. Music of 2020: Which do you prefer?

2010, you written a pretty good sum up why I also prefer 2010.

I've tuned out of contemporary pop culture since graduating high school over four years ago, but even then, from what I've listened to from the Top 100 from this month, every song has been either mediocre and forgettable or completely awful, only exception being Blinding Lights by The Weeknd. Not only that, but most songs that are popular with today's teens are popular primarily on music apps rather than the radio, and they're only popular for a short period of time.

Even though I believe the music industry had definitely already gone downhill by then, even though I'm by no means a fan of electropop, I couldn't argue that 2010 wasn't a memorable year for music, because it definitely was. Not only that, but there are quite a handful of popular hits released that year that I do enjoy, such as Pumped Up Kicks by Foster The People, Rhythm of Love by Plain White T's, Animal by Neon Trees, Airplanes by B.o.B. & Haley Williams, Love The Way You Lie by Eminem & Rihanna, and Not Afraid by Eminem. Plus, the songs on 2010's billboard were popularized by radio airplay instead of by music apps, this was still before smartphones had become standard, so more effort was put into making songs memorable for quality reasons instead of purely for shock value.

2010 wins easily, no contest.
