This looks like another world from 2020. The economy was not good but it was much more optimistic than today

slashpop needs to chime in on this I would have to say 2008 had a more poppy friendly vibe then 2007 Putting the recession aside 2008 did have a more welcoming, optimistic and open minded vibe than earlier years especially with the political direction and just the way things were naturally progressing after the mid 2000s. I remember 2008 feeling less judgmental, people seeming to be more globally/politically aware of things they had no clue about a couple years earlier and a bit more liberal and tolerant compared to a year like 2005. Even if it was no where near the 2010s mindset yet. The photos accurately represent the vibe of 2008 it had like a mix of both words and it had the feeling of building and being lead by a new identity at the same time that wasn't always super clear or completely put together. I see it as the year that represents improvement and change in the 2000s. I think it best presents the late 2000s because, 06, 07,09 had elements of different eras.

I might dare say 2008 is the most positive year of the 2000s

The picture of the lady with the spiked up “Karen” haircut...
2008 was my favorite year of the late 2000s.
Our commercial breaks for this month...

Do you take these pictures? Also, please do one for 2000 if you could. Haven't seen one yet. Otherwise, great post!
